It sits in the same spot and does the same job, deflecting heat away from your food but it's built from 10mm mild steel that won't crack under the heat of a long low-and-slow cook, season after season.

Mild steel is heavy-duty and holds heat well, so it keeps an even temperature across your cook. Like your favourite cast-iron, it'll season toward a natural non-stick surface over time — just clean and dry it after use and it'll only get better.
